Student Bursary

The Bursary Fund

The 16-19 Bursary Fund is paid by the Education Funding Agency (EFA) to Schools and Colleges so that they may provide financial help to students whose access to or completion of education might be inhibited by financial consideration.
Students wishing to claim the 16-19 Bursary Fund will fall into two categories.

A. Vulnerable Student Bursary

  • Young people in care
  • Care leavers
  • Young people personally in receipt of income support or universal credit
  • Disabled young people in receipt of Employment Support Allowance who are also in receipt of Disability Living Allowance

If you are eligible for this bursary then you should be entitled to a payment of £1200 for the academic year.

To make an application, students should complete the form below.

  1. Discretionary Student Bursary

This bursary is allocated to students who have successfully claimed Free School Meals for the current academic year. If you are unsure whether you are entitled to Free School Meals please contact Lewisham on 020 8314 6221, you can also apply online at www.lewisham.gov.uk

You do not need to apply for this bursary as the schools will receive notification of students eligible for free school meals automatically.

Payment
Students who are eligible and who meet the requirements of either bursary will receive half - termly payments over the course of the Academic Year, subject to meeting the conditions for study and conduct detailed in the SFH6 Learning Form Agreement.
